Concert Croissant #14

Maria Malibran is regarded as one of the great opera singers of the nineteenth century. Following her early death at the age of 28, she became a legend. Her final resting place is in Brussels. Her sister Pauline Viardot was also a singer and enjoyed renown as a composer. As part of Echoes of Brussels, young soprano Gwendoline Blondeel – who was awarded the 2025 Caecilia Prize for Young Musician of the Year – follows in the footsteps of the two sisters together with pianist Marie Datcharry, performing their music alongside works by Rossini, Donizetti and Mozart.
